usmcsis's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- it's a dog eat dog world okay, here's a little rant that's been on my mind for a while. i don't want to get anyone cheesed off at me so let me say from the start that i personally don't have anything against people hunting for food. got that? good. what i do have issue with is this. on any given morning i can go outside and find at least one, sometimes two or more, hounds sleeping on my porch or somewhere in the yard. they are half starved and usually extremely skittish and scared of people. a lot of them are limping from injuries. they are scratched and cut and bleeding. most of them have huge ticks all over their bodies and green goop coming out of their eyes from infections. sometimes i walk to the mailbox and see a dog sleeping in the ditch where it could easily be run over. this morning i got up and went to the store down the road. in the 12 miles it took me to get there and come back, i saw 2 dogs limping along the railroad tracks, 2 other dogs looking for food around the dumpsters at the end of the road, and a grand total of 5 dogs dead on the side of the road. all hunting dogs. we have men pulling into our driveway off and on throughout the day and at all hours of the night asking, have you seen my dog? could you call me if you see it? blah blah blah blah blah i understand that these dogs aren't "pets" so to speak. but come on here people, it's still these men's responsibility to take care of their animals. these dogs are sick, hurt, and hungry and some seem to be violently abused. this is the reason that i personally dislike hunting season. 3:58 pm - 04 Jan 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
