usmcsis's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- obsessed? who, me? i've just finished reading harry potter and the goblet of fire for like the third or fourth time. i wonder if perhaps j.k. rowling is really a witch. i love her books but as i get close to finishing one of them, i am overcome by impatience for the next one to be released. then again, maybe she isn't a witch, maybe she's just an incredible writer. of course, that isn't really a maybe, it's a definite fact. oh well, i will have to be content with the fact that the second movie will be out in a couple of weeks and hopefully the 5th book will be out early next year. *sigh* so sunday was the richmond captive bred reptile expo. very cool. jeff and i brought home way more than we should have, but i'm happy with the purchases we made. i got two beautiful anerythristic corn snakes (all black and gray with no red or orange), two amelanistic corns (one is called a creamsicle corn snake because it is light orange and white with bright orange eyes and the other i am calling hokie, my virginia tech snake, because he is maroon and orange with a nice aberrant pattern on his back), we also got a pair (male and female) of kenyan sand boas which are so cool. they burrow in the sand and full grown they are only about a foot long. they are anerythristic also (lacking color except for black and gray) and are carrying the genes for blizzard, which is a totally white snake with dark eyes worth quite a bit of money. we got several very good deals from the vendors as they tend to give wholesale prices to other businesses and jeff was "shopping" for work. lol it was his bosses suggestion. besides, jeff and i are a business and, hopefully, in another year we will be hatching the offspring from all of the baby corns we got this weekend. mike, a guy who works with jeff, sold us an adult sunglow corn snake on monday for very cheap. she is beautiful with a bright orange background color with bright, bright red saddles down her back. sunglow babies sell for a decent price as well. and if she will mate with the bloodred corn we got last week then we will have an amazingly beautiful clutch of corns as soon as next spring. so amy and joey are sucking already and we aren't even in the house together yet. oh well, personally, i don't foresee it happening to tell the truth. and neither does jeff. he was thinking in business mode that having joey, who has quite a bit of snake husbandry experience, right there with us as we start breeding, incubating, hatching, and sell would help a lot. and it would but it is so not worth the drama that dealing with those two is causing. i have to call my dad tomorrow and see if i can borrow his chimney brushes so that jeff and i can get the chimney cleaned out in the next couple of days. he has to work for the next three days straight and then sunday is sierra's birthday party (which once again i am not invited to) so i don't know when we'll get it done but we want to get the chimney cleaned out, the stove pipe repaired or replaced, get some firewood, and hopefully we can be out of suzanne's hair in the next week. as cold as it's been in the past week or so, we have to get the woodstove working before we can stay down there. not to mention that it's cold enough to freeze my nose off my face, it would be extremely dangerous for all of the animals, reptiles and mammals alike to have them down there in the cold. if amy and joey had done what they said they were going to do three weeks ago it would be done by now. but i should know by now that you can't count on either of them to do what they say they're going to do. anyway, so i'm off to do a bit of housekeeping before my evil twin gets home from work and then i think i'll see if i can't get a bit of a harry potter fix online. maybe she really is a witch... 4:10 pm - 30 Oct 2002 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
