usmcsis's Diaryland Diary

bravery, your parents had it too...

so, my first day back yesterday. i was late as you know. good times. of course, i walked in expecting the worst.

first, i stopped by my mailbox to see if i had anything important in there and walked away with a stack of crap over an inch thick. and it was all crap.

jermaine is so bad about giving me the same stuff more than once. and he always slaps a sticky note on it, have you seen this yet? uh, yeah, you gave me the same thing yesterday. but anyway, that's just jermaine. despite his weirdness, or maybe because of, i love him. he is definitely the best boss i've ever had. i've learned more from him in the four months he's been there than i've learned from like all of my bosses ever.

anyway, so i got over to food and the cappuccino and coffee machines were out of order. there was a note saying that one of them had developed a small leak on saturday so the water had been turned off blah blah blah. small leak my ass. there was still water under the counters and on the floor and under the machines themselves.

this happened saturday and monday morning i cleaned up water. *shakes head* so, i called our sbs man (sbs = store building services) who works in another store as well as our store. i told him what was up. i told him what i thought it was, i was right by the way, and he said he'd be right over. he showed up and had to replace one of the water tubes in the back of the cappuccino machine and ta-da it was fixed within an hour.

someone had apparently moved the cappuccino machine and when they did they kinked the tube and it split. presto. water everywhere. good times. actually, i had it happen to me back when i first got there and i was told to move the machines and clean the counter and the tube behind the coffee machine sprayed like five feet in the air. so, crisis one fixed.

so i think the only other major thing was the fact that all of the timers were dumped on the counter in a pile and they were all broken. i don't know what the hell that is about. we use little kitchen timers for our cookie oven, popcorn machine, and coffee urns. we have to pop popcorn every thirty minutes and brew coffee every two hours so we have to use these timers to make sure that we are "brand". fal, you'll probably understand that in a few weeks.

anyway, so all of the timers were broken so i have to replace them all today which did not make jermaine a happy camper at all. or me either for that matter, because they are like three bucks a piece and i know that nine bucks isn't a huge deal, but when it's the last week of the month and you are getting ready to do inventory, you don't want to have any purchases or anything just in case there is some kind of problem.

there were also many other eye rolling moments throughout the day but i won't bore you with all of them. besides, i need to get in the shower and get ready to head to work.

i did end up having a visit from my district team lead yesterday afternoon. which added some much un-needed stress to me but it ended up alright. jermaine called me and was like karyn just called, she'll be here in like an hour, be ready. holy crap. i was running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

but when she got there she had me walk the department with her and jermaine and she said that pretty much everything looked great. she had a few things that she wants me to do or not to do. but overall she was impressed with the organization. nice little stroke of the ego there. but i am having serious gross margin issues and she is looking into those big time, trying to figure where the money is going.

blah. so the gross margin stuff is bad and i know it is, i've been working on it myself for like six months. my boss before jermaine was like gross what? idiot. anyway, so hopefully tomorrow's inventory will go well and my gross margin will be within normal ranges. i'm crossing my fingers.

okay, so i really have to go now. i have to be trained in the pharmacy when i get to work today. yay. (note sarcasm) jermaine has decided that all team leads should be trained in the pharmacy so that we can all help ring up guests when they get busy. so, my question is this, will we be training all team leads in food so that they can come help us when we get back up? probably not. but i will be mentioning it to jermaine this evening.

i love closing on tuesday nights. r.e., my fave gstl works, jermaine and bernadine are the closing lod's and they both rock. and marinda closes with jermaine so my bestest work friend is there too. and rachel from the photo lab whom i've gotten to know pretty well recently closes so we can take our smoke breaks together. is it sad that all of my friends work at target? yeah, i figured it probably was. :P

so, yeah, off to find some red and khaki. i actually washed, dried, folded, and put away, all of my work clothes saturday. how freaking awesome is that? so i won't be all wrinkled to hell when i go to work tonight. yay.

toodles.
