usmcsis's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- wakes up in a cake made of strawberry so mama and i just spent the past four hours or so wandering around downtown hopewell, going in and out of antique shops and junk shops. it is so gorgeous outside that it was really nice to walk up and down main street and go into all the shops. of course, a few of the shops were a tad, um, dusty, to be polite so my allergies are acting up a bit now. but all in all we had a great time. we even found a few good bargains. we bought two mccoy cookie jars, one for $15 and one for, get this, $2. yes, we bought a mccoy cookie jar for $2. if you don't understand the signifigance of that statement, it's okay, a lot of people don't. just know that it's a good thing and be happy for us. my mom bought me a gorgeous vintage strawberry shortcake mug from 1981. it is in perfect condition and it was only $7. a bit more than i would normally want to spend on a mug. actually, under normal circumstances i wouldn't even buy a mug. but it was classic strawberry shortcake. and $7 is really not an unreasonable price. so anyway, you would not believe some of the great antique furniture we saw. i could furnish and decorate a dozen houses with the stuff i fell in love with today. anyway, i'm off to put away the new aquisitions and get ready to fix us some healthy lunch. have a good one. toodles 1:32 pm - 25 Sep 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
