raindrops on roses
so most of central virginia is apparently under water right now. lol we've gotten between ten and fourteen inches of rain since about noon today.
i've seen footage on the news before of cars floating down roads, people stranded on the tops of their vehicles and such. but i've never seen it happen here. they've closed over seventy-nine roads in my county alone. two of them being my street and the street that takes me to work.
umfortunately, tomorrow is my night to close and i'm sure that the water will have receded by the time i have to go it.
if you look out our back door, you hardly see any grass at all. it's like we live on the shoreline at the beach. water as far as the eye can see. well, up to the house next door anyway. lol the driveway is mia, the mailbox is tilted at a very strange angle. and the road seems to have packed up and gone somewhere sunny for a short holiday.
today's weather would have been perfect if i had been at home in my pj's with my book and a quilt and my junebug. however, it took me nearly an hour to get home. it's typically a ten or fifteen (i think i spelled that wrong) minute trip. of course, mama usually gets home from work in about forty-five minutes. today she made it in just under three hours.
and she had to turn around when she got to our road because it was flooded and the police had closed it. so she had to find another way to get home. which, coincidentally, was another flooded road, but, since it's a little traveled back road apparently it didn't cross anyone's mind to close it. she would have been a hell of a lot safer if they'd have let her get down the first road.
anyway, so i slept well last night for a nice change. but by about eleven this morning i was exhausted again. i came home and went to bed with my book with the intention of reading the last of it but fell asleep instead after about two sentences. so i slept a couple of hours. daddy came to ask me something but decided not to wake me because he doesn't sleep either so he hears me up at all hours of the night and he knows i need all the rest i can get.
of course, i typically try not to nap in the afternoon or evening because you can almost guarantee that i won't sleep that night but tonight i think i will. i woke up feeling about as recharged as a dead battery and i'm having a bit of trouble keeping my eyes open at the moment. i take that as a good sign. so i'm off to bed before something happens to wake me back up.

edit: i am requesting a review. why? why not. since i have to have a link up before i can request the review, i'm putting it in this entry until i have time to add it to the rings page. anyway, if you haven't read some of these reviews in the past, check them out, they are totally straight foward and brutally honest. i have a feeling i am in for a few insults.
