usmcsis's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- my bug okay, yesterday junebug was either stung by something or bitten by a spider. i'm leaning towards the spider bite. probably a brown recluse. ick. anyway, so around eleven last night she started having crazy muscle spasms and her limbs all locked up. she was having trouble breathing and was in severe pain. she was running a very high fever and she dehydrated extremely quickly. mama and i rushed to the emergecy vet's office which is about thirty or forty minutes away. there were quite a few other people there and we ended up having to wait for well over an hour before she was finally seen. they shaved the area on her back in order to get a better look at the site. the vet was of the opinion that since there was only one puncture wound that it was a sting. however, the puncture site is very large, about as big around as a pencil lead and no stinger is going to leave a wound that big. anyway, so they gave her some steroids, antibiotics, and iv fluids and sent us home with the instructions to buy some children's liquid benadryl today for her. the area surrounding the wound has turned a horrible purple and black and the actually site itself has expanded. i've taken some pictures and may post them even though that seems a little gross. anyway, so daddy is taking her to our regular vet tomorrow while i'm at work to have bloodwork done and see what he thinks about it. she is still in a lot of pain and it is oozing and bleeding off and on. she scared the living shit out of me last night. for a while i honestly thought i was going to lose her and i can't even begin to explain the feeling that thought caused. but, she's going to be okay. she's still in for some pain but she's a good girl and she'll get through it. in other news, daddy picked will and two other Marines up in norfolk this morning, brought them here, they came in so will could love on beavis and junebug for a few minutes and then they left again, headed for north carolina. neither mama or i got to see him. *sigh* oh well, he'll be home in a week or so and i'll see him then. i can wait. besides, i was exhausted this morning, and worried and my head was killing me from lack of sleep and i was running very, very late for work so i wouldn't have been able to do more than say hi and run out the door anyway. so, bug has had her dose of yucky cherry flavored medicine and is now tucked into bed with a warm compress on her back. she's snoozing but every once in a while she starts trembling again from the pain. i'll let ya'll know what the vet says tomorrow. send some good vibes the junebug's way please. toodles 10:38 pm - 12 Jun 2005 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
