usmcsis's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my chair is squeaky

so today has been a pretty good sunday. this morning my mom and i went to the flea market and wandered around. being that the fall is going to be coming soon and the flea market season will be coming to a close, there were probably twice the normal number of sellers there.

we got a few pretty good deals and ended up bringing home three new cookie jars to add to the mammoth collection. i also got a bag of the best plums on earth. really, these plums taste so good they should be illegal.

so this afternoon was spent moving cookie jars and rearranging so that we could fit our new acquisitions onto the shelves. we set up a section in the living room for just christmas jars and that cleared space in the spare room, which is where we keep most of the jars, for some others.

then i put my decorating talents to work and talked mama into doing an impromptu make-over of the foyer. as long as i've lived in this house the foyer has just sort of been there. i mean, mama's curio cabinet is there and there is a little table by the door and an old old old clock hanging on the wall. but none of it went together and there was no flow to the room.

so i had bought her a couple of victorian type framed prints that she wanted to hang in her room. one was of a little girl and a jack russell standing in the corner for breaking a vase, one is a little girl and a jack russell having breakfast in bed, and one is a little girl and a jack sitting in a wooden chair together. so i was like, i know you wanted to hang them in your room but those jack prints would look really good in here.

she was like they'd be perfect and jumped up to go get them. ha ha. i was expecting it to take a lot more convincing than it did to get her to let me hang them in the foyer. so we got them hung and then she brought in a jack russell cookie jar that daddy had bought her and this statue of a jack that my brother bought her and we put them on the little table by the door.

now all we need is an area rug for the floor to cover up the awful vinyl that is in there (and the den and the kitchen and the laundry room oh my!) and it will be done. it looks one hundred times better than it did an hour ago. she's thrilled and i'm might damn proud of myself. and now she's all excited because she get to look at the rugs at work tomorrow.

now i just need to finish my laundry. my plan was to get my bedroom and the bathroom done today, but getting the spare room and the foyer done plus some works for me.

anyway, so i'm hungry and what i really really want is a chicken quesadia from taco bell. wonder if mama will let me use the car...

toodles
