usmcsis's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- so it's almost 3:30 in the morning and i can't sleep. jeff's already been gone to work for over an hour. i'll have to sleep on the couch when i finally do crash so i can hear when fedex comes to the door in the morning. we are expecting a shipment of two baby burmese pythons to arrive. we recieved two baby albino corn snakes tuesday. they are absolutely beautiful. their all pink and white with little pink eyes. their children will be gorgeous. can't wait until their old enough to breed. we got a male and a female. they guy we got them from was very cool and probed them out for us an everything. i was holding the female wednesday and she got a bit big for her britches and started trying to bite me. it was so funny. corns rarely bite anyway and when they do, from what i've heard, it doesn't really hurt. this little one has like no teeth or whatever and she just opened her mouth real wide and started bumping into my hand over and over again. it was so funny. we have a northern pine snake that this guy we buy some of our feeders from gave us. you aren't supposed to sell them in virginia as they are a native species to the state. of course, i've seen one or two for sale in pet stores in the area. oh well, what ya gonna do, right? anyway, this pine snake thinks he's a friggin rattlesnake. it is so funny. he curls up in on himself in exactly the same posture as rattlers do and he hisses to beat the band. he rattles his tail too, just like a little rattler, but he's all bark and no bite. so far anyway. lol he gets himself all worked up, hissing and striking at the cage and as soon as jeff puts his hand in the cage to pick him up he's just a docile and meek. he's a sweetie really. he's like that guy everyone knows who is all puffed up like some big bad-ass all the time when you know deep down he's jelly. lol i love these animals. all of them. i'm so glad that jeff and i got into this. it's something that has brought us even closer together. it's cool to share a passion like this with the person that you love. virginia has recently passed a bullshit law hamstringing people who rescue animals. not just reptiles but dogs, cats, etc, as well. jeff is working hard writing to our congressmen and the govenor and whomever else he can think of to write to. we get quite a few of our animals by adopting them from rescues and this new law is going to drastically cut down on the number of animals that people can rescue as well as the number of animals people can adopt. in short, it sucks. so i'm avoiding the topic of my father. well, i was trying to anyway. it would seem though, that i am no longer able to avoid it. this is why i can't sleep. juggy, i got your email the other day and i am sorry i haven't emailed you back. it's been a rough week. as juggy said in his email, this certainly doesn't seem like the year of the father. he puts on a brave front for me. whenever we talk it's, everything will be fine, i'm okay, we'll just do this and see what happens, blah blah blah. i wish things were as simple as he makes them out to be. he's stage 3 for crying out loud! stage 3! in case you missed my earlier entry, the average survival rate for stage 3 myeloma patients is 23 MONTHS! 23 months. less than 2 years. i know i am being very pessimistic about things and i am trying very hard not to be. when i talk to daddy it's all sunshine and roses out of my mouth. daddy's aren't supposed to die. what becomes of daddy's little girl when there's no more daddy? 3:23 am - 16 Aug 2002 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
